Connaught (Connacht)  comprises of the counties of Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Leitrim and Sligo. Sitting between the beautiful bogland of Connemara, Munster's Burren region and the accessible Aran Islands, Galway City can be considered the gateway to the west whilst boasting arguably the best, most authentic drinking spot in Ireland. Galway might well be the most famous part of the province but from the sugar loaf dominated skyline of Sligo to the windswept cliffs and beaches of Mayo, Connaught boasts some of the most attractive sections of the Wild Atlantic Way driving route.
