Macánta Ireland is a travel guide borne out of our love for Ireland. We want to give first time visitors to the country the benefits of our insider information, with honest reviews of attractions, activities, events, areas of natural beauty, and towns and villages. After all, macánta is the Irish word for honest.
We are currently living in Ireland and work in the travel industry and know only too well that many high ranking Irish tourism websites are owned by tourist boards or heritage trusts who understandably want you to visit anywhere under their remit. We go beyond mere descriptions and 100% positive coverage and give you our opinions on both why you should visit a place but also what may take away from an experience. There's so much amazing stuff to see in Ireland, so use your time wisely!
Also, these reviews are about the places we've visited and experienced. If we don't know a place, we won't comment on it - which is why there might be an absence in some areas, for now anyway.
We straddle the terrifying landmark of thirty years old so we would say that we our tastes and experiences are still within the budget backpacker style of travel but also getting to grips with the more comfortable mode of travelling.
We'd love to hear your opinions on our website so please let us know how we're doing. We're quite lonely and starved of attention so we'll take anything. Even mild, swearing or death threats. Also, if you have any suggestions for articles you'd like to see please get in touch!
